I got into the water purification filter business and started Water Filters R Us, Inc. (OrderWaterFilters.com) when I quit the corporate rat race for good and moved cross country to settle in pristinely beautiful Gold Beach, Oregon, in the heart of America's Wild Rivers Coast. Gold Beach is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, but the water does not taste the best.

There's nothing dangerous about the water here. Like many municipalities in the United States, Gold Beach water is laden with chlorine. It's used to kill bacteria but gives the water a poor taste. That's why my first market for Water Filters R Us, Inc. is my new home town. I also own and operate OrderWaterFilters.com, our online store.

I became an expert in water filtration while working for a company famous in its field, but not in the water purification business.

Shortly after joining the firm, I was eating lunch in the cafeteria, and saw a water filter with the company name on it attached to the water fountain. I asked the president of the firm the origin of the filter and was informed that the corporation did a small business in Europe in water filtration.

I found out that this maintenance-free water filter system was manufactured in Florida. I asked, and received the blessing to visit the manufacturer, and if I wanted, to develop a water purification filter line for the domestic market. Well that is exactly what I did. I re-designed the filter and quickly made a sale to a major retail chain.

My employer was very impressed, and I established a marketing plan and a product-specific sales force. The business grew. I was befriended by the president of the water filter manufacturing company, and learned from him all the technical information concerning the industry. He is an advisor to the National Science Foundation, (NSF,) the leading certification agency in the water filter business, so he is very well informed. His company supplies all the water purification filters we sell here at OrderWaterFilters.com.

The water filtration business I started for my employer was so successful, that the company president approached me about a product that had been shipped in from Japan. It seems these six units had been in the company warehouse for a long time, as no one at the company knew what they were.

They were marked "Dual Purpose Ultraviolet Light Electrolyzer."  I not only became well-versed in this niche segment of the water purification filter business, but I also discovered and sold the largest purveyor of such products on the internet.

This product line of electrolyzers made the highest profit margin in the history of the company I worked for. This also made me a hero to company. But as many of you may know, the ways of corporations are fickle at best, and I was eventually fired. My ex-employer spun off the  water filter business, as I really was the only one who had taken the time to understand it.

Having done further research, I no longer sell electrolyzers because I have found that there are questions concerning their benefits as water purification systems.
